Default Insignia Help Needed.

I'm currently playing Chapter 1. and with the May 24th update I can now use Insignia's on my armor, which is great. I'm a bit confused tho to what insignia's stack with others. For example my new armor set, with the update now consists of 5 pieces of armor with the Knight's insignia on each, which gives a -3 damage reduction bonus on the piece its attached to. Now does that mean I will get a combined global tally of -15 damage from all 5 parts, basically stacking them. Or will I only get -3 damage reduction from 1 piece of armor and therefore be wasting my other 4 slots with duplicate Knights insignias.

I looked on Guild Wars Wiki for some answers and heres what I found.

"A Knight's Insignia is a warrior specific upgrade component that provides reduction of physical damage. This bonus is not global and applies only to the armor piece equipped with the insignia."

This confused me, but sort of gave me the impression that they would stack by saying the bonus is not global.

I looked a bit further and found this.

"A Warrior equipped with a full set of Knight's Insignia (damage reduction -3) and a Rune of Superior Absorption will have a total damage reduction of -6."

This clearly states that having all your armor inserted with the Knight's insignia would not stack and only benefit the wearer by -3 damage reduction.. leaving me a bit confused

Can anyone give me some solid info on how insignias work concerning if they stack or not please. Thanks in advance.

That has more to do with the armor system in Guild Wars then insignias. Each armor piece has a certain chance of being hit, whith Chest having the highest chance, leges the second highest, and the rest the lowest. The armor level and insignia applies for wherever you are hit. Runes are global.

It says *exactly* how it work, you are trying to fit what they are saying into the way you think it works.

Each piece of armor has a specific chance of getting hit, if you want to know them they are easy to find on the Wiki.

Global modifiers affect every single hit no matter the location - for instance a shield, armor bonus on a weapon, or an absorption rune are global. Ones that stack increase the global modifier for *each one* equipped - for instance a +16 armor shield and a +5 armor sword add +21 armor but two superior absorption runes still just add -3 damage reduction.

Insignias only affect the piece of armor they are on. That is the Knights insignia on the chest gives -3 damage reduction *only* if that damage is applied to the chest piece. Since this is a different type of modifier than above it "stacks" in that it is part of a different calculation - thus you would get -6 damage reduction to a hit to the chest if you chest had a knights insignia and you have a superior absorption rune on *any* piece of armor. If you have a radiant insignia on your legs and get hit there then you would only get -3 damage reduction - the global reduction - because you chose to have the extra energy.

This is the same way the Nights armor has worked for a long time, in the early part of the game it was a global modifier (you only needed one piece of the armor to get the extra -3 damage reduction and because it was not a rune it "stacked" with the rune giving -6 damage reduction), but that was changed quite a while back. Since I haven't played my warrior in a while he still has 15k head, chest, arms, and legs but has knights boots - looks kinda strange but I do not play him enough to bother with getting newer boots, and now with insignias I would prefer a totally different armor set anyway.

Generally speaking I would suggest if you really want the knights only keep them on your chest and legs as most of the hits are going to land there - you are better off with something else on your head, arms, and feet (radiant, survivor, etc). Though with the absorption only working against physical you may be better off with a +armor against everything, but in the end they all work decent enough.
